Nils Christian Stenseth is a Norwegian biologist who has conducted outstanding research in the fields of ecology and evolutionary biology. His work particularly focuses on population dynamics, the effects of climate change, and the evolutionary responses of ecological systems. Stenseth has significantly contributed to the understanding of the relationships between global climate change and biodiversity. He is the director of the Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis (CEES) at the University of Oslo. In December 2006, CEES was awarded the status of a Centre of Excellence by the Research Council of Norway. Additionally, he is the Chief Scientist at the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research and an Honorary Professor at Tsinghua University.
