Seed based restoration to prevents the establishment and spread of invasive alien species
The success of invasive alien species is aided by their characteristics, high propagule pressure and the priority effect. Seeding of native species based on theese mechanisms can be successfully used to control ivasive alien species and to increase the resistance of native communities. The aim of the research is to test alternative hypotheses that explain the resistance of native communities to alien species, and to establish seed-based habitat restoration methods that help to prevent the establishment or further spread of invasive species.
