Greenhouse experimental system

Intézet: Institute of Ecology and Botany and National Botanical Garden
Year of commissioning of the infrastructure: 2023

Summary

The greenhouse experimental system in Vácrátót is a 150 m2 plant growing space consisting of five greenhouses. The research infrastructure provides a high replicate capacity for germination and plant growing experiments under controlled conditions. It allows the implementation of seed bank ecological, germination biological, restoration ecological and phytometric studies that will contribute to increasing the efficiency of conservation and restoration projects, to a complex understanding of the impacts of climate change and to the maintenance of ecosystem services. The infrastructure is located next to and is being operated in coordination with the Institute of Aquatic Ecology’s mesocosm and microcosm experimental system.
