research activities on freshwater algal assemblages, fieldwork, data analysis, manuscript writing
I am currently engaged in research in algology
I study metaphyton and phytoplankton, examining how physical complexity of the environment influences metaphyton diversity and how this, in turn, contributes to phytoplankton diversity. I also explore how environmental variables, specific stressors (aquatic macrophyte removal, nutrient loading) and lake morphology shape this relationship.
When focusing on phytobenthos, I investigate colonization processes through experiments conducted in lowland watercourses of varying sizes as well as in a large reservoir. My work integrates both taxonomic and functional approaches to provide a comprehensive understanding of community assembly processes and the impacts of climatic events on these communities.
